Versace Re-Issues Iconic Silk Print Shirts

Versace has re-issued a limited number of its classic printed silk shirts that were ever so popular in the 1990's.  The shirts will be available in all Versace stores worldwide as well as select department stores, boutiques and online shops.  Versace decided to re-release the classic silk shirts after seeing various runway collections  filled with obvious inspiration from its late 90's trend.

Here are pictures of the re-released iconic silk print shirts:

Rappers Tyga, Drake, and Flo-Rida were all spotted recently wearing silk Versace shirts:

Tyga wore this Versace Silk Barocca Print Shirt in a spread for Rap-Up Magazine

Tyga's Young Money label mate Drake wore the same Versace Silk Barocca Print shirt in a different color to his 25th birthday celebration at TAO

Rapper Flo-Rida was spotted in the same shirt at TAO as part of his Young Jeezy Halloween costume.  I have so many questions here: 1). Why is he dressing up as Jeezy for Halloween?  2). When has Jeezy ever worn a silk Versace shirt or anything silk for that matter? 3). Who would have even been able to guess that he was dressed as Jeezy?  Ok, I have so many more, but I'll stop there....

And unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Versace is releasing a collection for H&M that will be available in  H&M stores November 19, 2011 at 8am.  Check out the full women and men's collection here

SATC 2

I am "Uber" excited about Sex And the City 2 coming out this week.  I can not wait until Thursday to see it.  Last night was the official premiere in New York with the entire cast.

The ladies looked fantabulous!

Left to Right: Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino, Kristen Davis in a vintage Jean Desses gown, Cynthia Nixon in Carolina Herrera, and Kim Cattrall in Naeem Khan

Can we just take a moment to focus on the GORGEOUS yellow Valentino gown Ms SJP, aka Carrie Bradshaw, wore on the "silver" carpet:

This gown is from Valentino's Spring 2010 Couture Collection.  She looks absolutely STUNNING!

Hundreds of fans gathered outside Radio Music Hall to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebs and cast members going into the premiere:

I will be attending an event here in Atlanta on Thursday hosted by Tami Reed of "Talking With Tami" :

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen

Today, the fashion world mourns the loss of iconic designer, Alexander McQueen.  It is speculated that McQueen may have taken his own life as he was grieving the loss of his mother, who died a week ago.  McQueen's designs were adorned by such celebrities as Sara Jessica Parker, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga to name a few. Alexander McQueen was supposed to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 9th. He was only 40 years old.  So sad : (

Here is McQueen pictured with Supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss

R.I.P. Mr McQueen, your contribution to the world of fashion will truly be missed...

Fur Stoles

Fur stoles are making a comeback this fall.  They have already been spotted on many Fall fashion runways this year.

My favorite girl Rihanna has rocked this furry trend on more than one occasion:

Earlier this year, she was seen in a more casual version of the fur stole as she was entering DaSilvano Restaurant in New York

Last month she was spotted wearing a black fur stole over an Alexander Wang dress at her manager's wedding in Italy.

Naomi Campbell wore the same exact Alexander Wang dress to the Black Girls Rock event where she was the recipient of the Fashionista award.  Naomi also topped it with a fur stole.

And here Rihanna is again wearing another casual version of the fur stole.

Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham pairing a stole over one of her own original designs.

Victoria Beckham wearing another stole.  Damn the stole, that bag is HOT!

Sarah Jessica Parker looks very elegant in this faux fur stole

Model Chanel Iman looks fabulous in this tuxedo look.

Men can wear fur stoles, too.  Just ask Mr. West

Coco Before Chanel

"Coco Before Chanel" is a biopic of fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, played by Audrey Tautou (pictured above) before she became an icon. The film begins depicting her life as a french orphan. She falls in love with french millionaire Etienne Balsan who helped her start her fashion empire.  Coco spent countless hours sewing her own clothes.  Back in the 20th Century, women wore corsets and other highly structured clothes that they could barely move around in.  Coco Chanel changed the face of fashion by designing "men-inspired" fashions out of her boyfriend's clothes like sailor shirts, trousers, tweed jackets.  She also designed women's fashions out of wool jersey material which was typically used in men's underwear.  Coco Chanel eventually went on to become a legendary couturier.

Coco Chanel was also known for piling on tons of fake jewelry, like faux pearls, on top of her clothing.

Here is a young Coco Chanel wearing one of her early designs

Everyone is familiar with the famous Coco Chanel logo that is often times imitated in knock-off fashions.

Her Chanel No. 5 perfume is the number one selling fragrance in the world

Here are some of my favorite famous quotes by Coco Chanel:

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”

“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”

“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

“A woman is closest to being naked when she is well dressed.”

"Coco Before Chanel" is already playing in select theaters in California and New York.  Check here for release dates in your city.
